Been using whatsapp on my main chromebook flawlessly for about a year. Very few issues. A week or so ago, it started to crash about 90 seconds into my video chats. I would start it up again, and it would inevitably crash again. I would say out of 10 conversations, 9 would crash after about 1 and 1/2 to 2 minutes in. Very ponderous and frustrating. Switched the whatsapp app to another chromebook, same issues. Cleared storage, reinstalled, same. Will switch to another app that actually works.
Google drive backups can’t be restored if you’ve been chatting a lot for years and get a new phone. Just hangs for hours then fails. The experience of getting a new phone is horrible. You lose your messages every time despite taking up Google Drive space. Local back ups? I can’t tell what those files are good for either. Very upsetting. Even Signal allows you to back up to an encrypted file.
Dog water app. Frustrating UI. Cannot properly sync contacts with phone contact list. Cannot verify account via email–phone only, which is very inconvenient. Each picture must be downloaded to the phone, taking internal space. Cannot log in on multiple devices as advertised. Calling is unreliable on WiFi and data. But hey, this is Meta, not sure why I expected a quality product.
Ever since the required update, this app sucks. At 15 minutes into each call, the other person says that they can’t hear me even though I can hear them and the app tells them it’s “reconnecting ” but then we have to call each other back. It’s seems fake, like the app is forcing us to make twice as many calls for their own statistical purposes or something. It’s just too weird. The other weird thing is that when my friends try to leave a one star, it has been automatically filling in all five.
I have an issue with the call features. Every time im in a call, the screen needs to be on and the app needs to be open or the microphone wont work. I can hear the person im talking sometimes, but they cant hear me if I multi-task/open another app. If I put the phone screen to sleep, it cuts out. I have had this issue since the beginning of the year. Idk what I could be doing but that is the only issue. But its a big issue for be because I call alot.
I give it 3 stars because, I really appreciate for this app, that allows us to communicate ever abroad. However, I couldn’t get any pictures or anything else to get sent. There’s a box indicating that I should do the setting I did the setting and still I couldn’t send pictures, it kept showing me that little box about setting, I go to setting do all the things there and nothing happens.
It was a great app until recently. Not only for me but also for my family members whenever you/they send a message to someone it doesn’t go through and the recipient doesn’t receive a notification. All you see is one tick mark. The sender and recipient are on Wi-Fi or has great service and all of our WhatsApp apps are up to date.
Won’t back up to Google Drive. Everything was working fine till the recent update. However, when Drive creates the backup is where things get murky. It creates the local backup no problem. But when trying to upload that back up to drive, it just stays there’s on “preparing back up.” it’s been like that for the past 4 days.
Nothing but awful audio that cuts out nonstop and very choppy video. Years and years and years of this. Hasnt gotten better even a little bit. If I had another option to communicate with the folks I’m talking to I would leave this in a new york minute. Truly the worst audio and video imaginable. Here we are in 2022. Crazy. Great job whatsapp. Way to allocate your resources and invest in your product.
The best total communication app! No wonder Facebook paid so much for it. It crushes all other communication apps completely. It can send enormous video files and 20 or more pictures at a time and all kinds of files like: pdf, jpg, pps, doc and more. It operates on minimum bandwidth so it’s great in weak signals.
