My experience with 1.1.1.1 WARP is that it’s a straight-forward secure DNS changer that does what it says on the tin smoothly and without any glitches. My personal preference for such an app would include a bit more (such as an app firewall), but in terms of doing what it was made for, this is a fiver.

Although it doesn’t change the IP address, it’s good to use, especially, when a game is showing loading sign, if this 1.1.1.1 is connected, it doesn’t show any loading sign and the game runs very smoothly. Also, it also unblocks some locally blocked websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Just one thing. Since it doesn’t change the IP address, I don’t think it’s very safe to use in some countries where there’s no freedom of speech. Otherwise, it just makes a good app.

It seems like ever since that major Cloudflare outage in June or July, this app works inconsistently. When it does work, it’s great. However, I am finding myself constantly having to disable it to get my internet working again; which was never an issue prior to the outage. I’ve tried changing my connection between WiFi and cellular, and going into airplane mode; and the only two things that restores internet service is a phone reset or disabling this app. Its just not worth the continued hassle.

The VPN functionality is pretty good. Reasonable speeds when connected to a decent WiFi connection. However, over 4G it’s super slow, half the apps and websites don’t load content, as traffic gets blocked. Probably the most annoying thing about the app is the trusted network feature. It will pause when on the trusted network, but only the first time you add the network to the list. After that, you have to flip a coin, because ~50% of the time, it turns on when connected to your trusted networks.

I want to like it, but it give me too many issues. My office Wi-Fi blocks all my traffic if I’m using a VPN on my phone. During my commute, when I switch between cell towers, I have to turn off the app to connect to anything again. A VPN needs to be seemless, but I spend too much time fussing with my connection just because the VPN adds another layer where something can go wrong. I don’t even notice any of the advertised speed improvements when everything works. Not worth the trouble for me.

Four stars because there are still some kinks that need to be worked out such as disconnecting, not working, etc. I’ll start putting a screen shot of the logs with a bug report and when it gets better I’ll raise to four star. Anywho, when it does work, it works well and delivers on its promise. So, four stars for innovation and usefulness. Further, it’s an intuitive, easy-to-understand interface. For suggestions: Pause/stop & resume button notification and a host list for custom domains.

Disconnects every so often. Very useful concept but janky execution. Might even be dangerous for users in some cases – you turn the toggle on, you think you’re safe from the prying eyes of the ISPs, but after a while when you check the app again you find that the toggle has moved to off and all this time, when you thought you were safe, the ISPs could actually see what you were up to. Please fix this issue.

This is an excellent solution for those of us who don’t have Android Pie. It does exactly what it needs to do without BS. I would love to have the option to add a quick toggle to the Android notification panel, or maybe a widget. Some comments about other reviews: The key icon – That’s a feature in Android itself, so there really isn’t anything the app developer could do about that. Personally, I like that it shows up so that I know I’m connected. Speeds – You probably won’t see a difference in download speeds, so running a speed test won’t tell you much of anything. However, websites should load noticeability faster when connected through this app. This might make more sense if you feel like reading about how DNS works, but basically, this helps your device connect to sites almost instantly.

OH. MY. GOD. My phone’s wifi connection is several times faster!! 😲 I wasn’t expecting it to help much, but this app let’s my phone load web searches and images in a split-second when it would take a few. Loading videos only takes 2-3 seconds when it took up to 10 before! Phenomenal! Now please excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor! 😂😂😂 It even makes cellular data only connections work faster too! Great for when you’re out of the house or when you don’t trust public wifi!

I try having the app on when I can, but battery life (especially standby time) takes a nosedive when it’s running, and my phone already has pretty poor battery life to begin with. Connection can also, at times, become painfully slow, or come to a stop altogether, requiring me to turn the app off and back on when connection re-establishes. I shouldn’t have to do that.
